Former New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson has been included in USA's 15-man squad for the upcoming men's T20 World Cup 2024 in USA and Carribean. Anderson is set to revive his tryst with ICC events after being a lynchpin for the Kiwis in three previous World Cups, including a dream campaign at home in the 50-over event in 2015.

Squad: Monank Patel (captain, wk), Aaron Jones (vice captain), Andries Gous (wk), Steven Taylor, Corey Anderson, Nitish Kumar, Shayan Jahangir (wk), Milind Kumar, Ali Khan, Saurabh Netravalkar, Jessy Singh, Shadley Van Schalkwyk, Harmeet Singh, Nosthush Kenjige, Nisarg Patel

Shayan Jahangir has been recalled in time for USA's historic debut World Cup appearance. The pugnacious wicket-keeper batter was brought in at the expense of Gajanand Singh. Jahangir, the former Pakistan U19 player, was surprisingly overlooked for the Canada T20 series despite ending up as the leading run-scorer at the World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe, USA's last international assignment before a long hiatus. However, Gajanand may feel hard done by after being ejected on the basis of failure in the Canada series with scores of 1* and 0.

USA's talisman Ali Khan returns after a long injury layoff which saw him miss the national T20 and the Canada series. Ali was swapped in for off-spinner Usman Rafiq, who got the shaft after a solitary appearance in the Canada series with figures of 24 runs in 2 overs.

Monank Patel and Aaron Jones, who form the bulwark of USA batting, have been retained in their leadership roles as captain and vice-captain respectively. Former Canada captain Nitish Kumar booked himself yet another ticket to a world event with a punchy 64 in his only appearance in the Canada series after USA found themselves in dire straits. Nitish first turned out for Canada as a 17-year-old in the 2011 ODI World Cup in the subcontinent. Andries Gous, Steven Taylor and former Delhi and RCB batter Milind Kumar wrap up the rest of the batting options in the USA squad.

Ali will spearhead the USA pace battery alongside the experienced Saurabh Netravalkar, Jessy Singh and Shadley Van Schalkwyk. USA selectors stuck with their three-pronged left-arm spin attack template with the inclusion of former Mumbai and India U19 spinner Harmeet Singh, Nosthush Kenjige and Nisarg Patel.

USA are set to play Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series as part of their World Cup preparations, starting May 21.
